ProductsMaxEdge™ Product RangeGreenEdge Data offers a range of data centre products under the MaxEdge™ family brand. The first of these is the original self-contained 20' data centre. MaxEdge™ The MaxEdge™ product is a self-contained data centre with five high-density racks in a 20' modular data centre. In comparison to conventional bricks-and-mortar data centres, The MaxEdge™ range;
Unlike other modular style data centres on the market, the MaxEdge™ product;
The 20' MaxEdge™ is the base of a range of related products that provide scalability in terms of power, and cooling, and up to hundreds of racks when adapted to more large scale deployments. Tri and Quad MaxEdge™
The QuadMax product is the company's foundation product for its data centre offerings. Its scale of design is directed at the data centre wholesale markets, as opposed to retail end customers. However, that does not preclude its sale to end-customers. Tri and QuadMax will be the base offering in GreenEdge Data's own data centres (refer Co-Location section). MaxEdge™ HD (High Density) GreenEdge Data also offer specialised top end designs that deliver to very high demand (VHD) power and cooling requirements. Additionally rear-door and front-door heat exchangers can be added across the range to further increase power and cooling capabilities for specialised (VHD) requirements. Application of HD VHD options is flexible and can be applied to individual racks within modules, across the entire module, or clusters of modules as specific needs change. Cooling Options The MaxEdge products support a number of different cooling options. The options available depend on the product chosen and the power requirements. The basic option (and the option available on the MaxEdge 20' Data Centre) is normal "DX" (Direct Expansion) cooling. In DX cooling, the air used for cooling space is directly chilled by the refrigerant in the cooling coil of the air handling unit. Since the air is cooled directly by the refrigerant the cooling efficiency of DX plants is high, but it is not always feasible to carry the refrigerant piping large distances so DX air conditioning systems are usually used for cooling the smaller spaces – perfect for the MaxEdge. The second option uses Chilled Water. Chilled Water systems are less efficient (since the heat has to be transferred twice: once from the air being cooled to the chilled water, and then from the chilled water to the refrigerant that chills it). However, chilled water systems have the advantage of being able to support a higher capacity. The third option is IFAC (Indirect Free Air Cooling). IFAC systems use the temperature of ambient air in conjunction with other cooling technology to increase the efficiency of their operation. As the GreenEdge Data systems grow in size and move to IFAC cooling, Power Utilisation Efficiency (PUE) drops to be substantially better than traditional Data Centres designs. Power Options GreenEdge provides its clients with a number of power options. The first and most basic is simply mains power (three-phase), conditioned and backed up with UPSs (Uninterruptible Power Supplies). However, UPSs only provide power for a fixed (and relatively short) period in the event of mains power failure. Despite this, they are useful for three reasons. Firstly, they cover the great majority of power outages, most of which are very short in duration. Secondly, they provide enough time for systems to be shut down in an orderly manner if that is the appropriate course of action. Thirdly, they provide enough time for longer-term backup power operations to be brought into service. Diesel generators, for example, take a short time to come online; the UPS will power the systems until the diesel generators are online. GreenEdge Data also provides eco-friendly innovative power option via gas-powered micro-turbines. These micro-turbines can be powered by a number of gas (or, with adaption, diesel) fuels, and can provide an alternative to mains power as a primary power source, as well as an alternative to a diesel generator as a backup power source. Scalability The GreenEdge Data MaxEdge™ range provides unparalled scalability in terms of size, capacity, efficiency, cooling technology, and most important, power density per area. Data Centre Co-Location GreenEdge Data offers alternatives to buying or renting your own MaxEdge™ solution by providing a range of managed Co-location facilities utilising our Quad MaxEdge™ data centres. Our data centres deliver all the benefits of modular design and delivery whilst ensuring security, capacity and flexibility. The client retains control of their business systems asset without the cost of deploying and maintaining their own dedicated data centre. The client can cost effectively scale in power and space in line with business demand. Data Centre Secured The standard MaxEdge™ solution is extremely secure as a base design. If additional security and separation is required GreenEdge Data offers modular units or clusters of units dedicated to individual clients. Within the standard security controls deployed within MaxEdge™ data centres, further physical access is applied to deliver private client environments, whilst maintaining all the associated benefits of the modular design. Please contact GreenEdge Data for additional information in regards Co-location and Secured offerings. |
